Once you have acquired a GPS fix, messages typically send out to their destination in 2 to 5 minutes.Please keep in mind that even when the SPOT system sends messages, message delivery is dependant on the status of your providers SMS and email networks. This could mean that messages, like any email or SMS messages you send and receive everyday, could be delayed. Please contact your mobile phone service provider, internet service provider or system administrator if you suspect irregular performance.

Can you put the Spot Connect in Track Progress mode and then turn off the phone? Will the Spot Connect continue to send location information once the phone is turned off?

Yes, in fact this is a great idea to help you save battery life on your phone. Once you have successfully engaged a SPOT Message mode on the smartphone, the phone can be turned off and the messages will still continue to transmit from their message cycle on the SPOT Connect device.

Your vehicle must be within 100 meters of a regularly maintained
roadway. The NSD Roadside Assistance Service is not offered in roadless
areas regularly not traveled, such as vacant lots, beaches, open fields
or other places that are hazardous for tow trucks to reach. This means
that if after mapping your GPS latitude and longitude, the location
does not map within 100 meters of a known, regularly maintained roadway
and is in an area safe for the tow truck to travel, NSD will not
